Purchased this for Science Olympiad elastic launch glider competition. It is well suited to cut to length and "de-strand" into smaller pieces and glue to balsa wood. Tape one end with scotch tape and then add another piece of tape near the length you need. Once you have the tape in place cut it in the middle to avoid fraying. Use a razor blade and cut the tape in the direction of the strands on one end (in the width of strands you want to separate). Then carefully pull the bunch away from the main bundle until you reach the other taped end. Use a razor blade to split the tape on the other end. Repeat as needed to get multiple thinner strands from one larger. Don't wear safety goggles and let your kid use the razor blade. If they cut themselves it will teach them lots about handling sharp objects.Read full review

I used to get this from Tower Hobbies, it was called Dave Brown carbon fiber tape but they haven't stocked it for a while. This is the same stuff at a better value.
