If you're into puzzles, then this game is definitely for you! If you haven't done picross puzzles before, then don't worry, as Nintendo introduces you to the puzzles very slowly. There is a great tutorial to start you off, and from then on a very slow learning curve. This will possibly bore people who are used to these puzzles, as you'll find the first 20 or so puzzles extremely easy. However, that just means it won't take you that long to get onto the harder puzzles. All in all, there are 192 puzzles. Each with quite interesting pictures to create and with increasing levels of difficulty. You get 30 minutes to do each puzzle so someone who is used to picross/griddler puzzles should be able to do them first time. Only some of them may take two or more attempts. However, if you're new some will probably take you over 3 attempts. The controls are very basic, as with most GB games. You press 'A' to colour in a square and you hit 'B' to cross out a square. As simple as that. It's a great time filler as each puzzle will take around 5-15 minutes, so if you ever have a bit of spare time and nothing to do, or just want to fill time on a long journey, you can complete a few puzzles. In summary, I think this is a fantastic game if you're into puzzles or if you're looking for a game that doesn't require you play for hours at a time. You can pick it up and play at any time. There is also a save function which means if you need to leave during a puzzle you can come back to it later. I really enjoyed this game and have played the puzzles many times. And once you've completed the main game there are numerous 'time trial' puzzles to complete so there is great longevity in this game. I bought this game when I was about 10 and I still pick it up and play it sometimes to this day (I'm now 21)! Just a note - if you're buying this just because you like Mario then don't! His picture is there simply to endorse the product and there is very little Mario influence in the game. His picture is used and some of the puzzles create pictures of Mario characters, but other than that this is nothing like a Mario game.Read full review
a combination of crossword and sudoku. It's fun and after a few rounds you will be a picross master. it has a three difficulty tiers that i suggest working your way through the second one is where the puzzles begin to get challenging. The time system is frustrating and it's easy to make simple mistakes, but i couldn't put it down a definite recommend for puzzle buffs. Mario fans might wanna sit this one out he's only like a marketing gimmick for the game. Again great puzzle game and awesome rare original title for the classic gameboy
Mario's Picross is a puzzle game for Game Boy. It reminds me of a visual version of sudoku. It has many puzzles to solve. Picross is basically a game where you use logic to determine where blocks go to form a picture. It is satisfying, because when done correctly, you are rewarded with a cool little image. If you are a beginner, you will find that the logic has multiple levels. You will learn more and more little tricks and rules as you become better at Picross, just as with sudoku. It's a great game to have to just have by your bed at night, or in your briefcase, where you can just pick it up and play. Once you have completed all the puzzles[200 some i believe], you can go back and play them again, although I have not done that yet. This game can save your progress after every puzzle completed, so that is one less thing for you to think about. Please note that since this is a game pak for the original Game Boy, It will not work in Nintendo DS, or in the Game Boy Micro. As far as i know, it will work in all other Game Boy models.Read full review
Has many puzzles in the game but not all of them are Mario ones. Quite disappointing. Also you have a time limit to complete the puzzle and you lose time when you fill in the wrong square and when time runs out, game over. You can also change the song on each course or turn the song off. You can also do hints and it fills in two lines for you randomly and you have to fill in the rest. 64 puzzles for each course. You will even find these puzzles on Picross DS so this game isn't worth getting if you have that other game. But you have to connect to wi-fi to download them. But overall I like this game. If I knew I would find these on Picross DS I wouldn't have gotten this game.
Package of Gameboy games is of great value considering how rare one of the games (Gadget Racers) is! The other two games are just as interesting and entertaining as the abovementioned rare game!
