Caveat on "12A" rating
This module uses the XLsemi XL4016 IC. It might reach 10A output at very high Vin/Vout ratios. At 24Vin to 12Vout it can do at most 6A before thermal foldback. It does have a well behaved gradual thermal foldback characteristic.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Watch dissipation, add fan
Works great but keep dissipation in mind. 12 Amperes out sounds too optimistic. Pretend it is a linear regulator so at 30 V in and 5 V out, the reg. must burn 25 V * 12 A= 300W. Even if the chips could handle 300W, the heat sinks can not dump 300W of heat to the ambient at the same pace. Use 10 or 12 V in. add a fan or 2. Most of the buck converters that I have tested croak at 60-70 percent of claimed output current in minutes.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
