Theodosia Browning, owner of the Indigo Tea Shop, is catering the annual Isles of Palm Yacht Race. She and her exceptional staff of two even brew up a new tea, Gunpowder Green, for the "Tea by the Sea" event. Theodosia observes an argument between very wealthy Oliver Dixon and Fred Cantrell during the event. These two have had an on/off again feud going. Near the end of the gala, Oliver fires the finishing line gun, but it misfires, exploding in his face and leaving him dead. Everyone, including police detective Burt Tidwell, believes this was an untimely, unfortunate accident. Theodosia is not of the same mind as everyone else and believes someone rigged the gun to backfire and murder Mr. Dixon. Unable to leave it as just an accident, Theodosia becomes involved, along with her staff, and this places her in great danger. As always, I love this series. It is so cozy with the Indigo tea shop and Haley in the back baking up a storm with her new recipes for scones, cookies, and other delights to be served with the various teas that Drayton has hand selected......all recipes in back of the book including tea tips. Charleston is a beautiful background setting and the regular characters, most of who are also shop owners, or locals, give you an insight into the city plus add their own quirkiness. A must read series.Read full review
If you have read one of Laura Child's tea mysteries, you will want to read the rest of those books. She has a knack for creating the illision of real people and places so that you would want to go visit them and have tea in Thedosia's tea shop and meet Drayton and Haley and especially the most perfect Delanie. Not a fan of the scrapbook series as I am not into that particular hobby, but I do love a good cup of tea as do many of us Cozy Mystery readers. Wish she would write more exploits of Thedosia and her co-horts. Love her Tea Mysteries.

Love this series of tea shop mysteries. Very easy reading and just perfect for a hot July afternoon. The receipts in the back of each book are wonderful. I've tried a couple of them and there GREAT.
I am enjoying the Tea Shop Mysteries. Gunpowder Green has several unexpected twists and turns. It kept me guessing!
As usual Laura Childs still keeps us guessing. I love to read the Teashop series. It really makes you hope there is a teashop in Charleston to go visit. Can't wait to read the next in the series. Give it a try you will be hooked for sure.
