The movie was based on the Ann Rule book and she is an excellent author. The story is very tragic but well done. The copy I received looked like it was home made and the quality was not real great but I really thought the movie was a very interesting story.

Although the movie itself is very good, (Farrah Fawcett is wonderful) the quality of the dvd is awful! It hurt my eyes and gave me a headache to watch it on our large tv. We switched over to a portable DVD player to finish watching it and then it was alright. That should have been made clear when purchasing though. I do appreciate that it was made available at all, because I couldn't find it on Netflix or Amazon since it was made for tv. Great book by the wonderful, late Ann Rule. The movie stays very true to the book.

True stories beat the hell out of anything fiction and the Diane Downs case makes one question one's ideas about the universality of Mother's Love. I keep coming back to this tale because, for once, the needs of helpless children is foremost in the thoughts of everyone except their own mom. And this one is personal for me. My own mother physically and sexually molested me and, one day when I was three, she did try to kill me. Something in me that never got justice is deeply satisfied by this tale. A knot inside my soul loosened when I first saw this movie. The book it's based one, Small Sacrifices by Ann Rule is incredibly good. This T.V. movie is very faithful to it. This is such a sad story to think a woman would do this to her children for the love of a man. Though this may be an extreme situation people should think of the consequences of their actions. Her feelings we just as strong as his, she loved him and he did not want children. It is always the innocent ones who suffer the most. I now wonder if these children talk with the lady who gave birth to them. I will not call her a mother, a mother would never do this to their children. I know I could not talk to her ever again. Nor could I forgive her. There is no excuse for her behavior. It is so nice to see there are truly hero’s in our world, the prosecutor and his wife who adopted these children. God bless them.
