Wire caught fire where boot and the wire meet,(plug end)
I have these on for about 2 months, 03 Ram 5.9 ran great with brass cap, rotor, new plugs. And the wires helped also. Out of the blue I noticed a slight misfire but it went away as quick as it started. thought maybe bad fuel initially. 2 days later driving home truck barely ran, multi cylinder misfire per my cel flashing (I'm a auto repair shop owner and know per knowledge) got home popped hood, my first 2 wires on drive side were burnt. Not melted and burnt from the outside but burnt firm the inside as the is no hardened silicone, I've seen melted wires and usually then they melt, then the core wire contacts metal and arcs.. not the case here, they in NO WAY touched my stock manifold, the boots are pretty firm so they don't flop around, there is no way the top of the boot could bend 90 degrees 3 inches away and touch the manifold..I have extra wire separators to help combat interference from other wires,. And factor mounting points.. I had it just like my passenger side and every other wire is fine. And they have the same mounting and extra assistance with being held in place, and no way to melt or burn.. I've been an auto tech / shop owner for many years, first time I've seen something like this, I always see melted wires but not literally ashes. And no hot contact spots...I seen a post on a cougar forum where a guy had the same problem, his ended up being due to poor crimp..taylor warranties their products but I'm not going to dick with the 90 day warranty on some 36 dollar wires, I'll spend the extra money next time and get a lifetime with another reputable company and warranty. I have to go to a dealer, show them my wire , they send it in , and then wait .. I have no direct contact with Taylor via the information on their website.
Attached photos of burnt wires, and also a pic of my passenger side and how the driver side was exactly the same. You can see it's a white ash burn residue, not a dark black melted look. Take a hot metal coat hanger and touch a plug wire and see the appearance. Will show my concept.
