I had to purchase this book for Modern Philosophy class, I was slightly dreading having to read it. After Finishing Frege's Foundations of Arithmetic (Yikes!) and then tackling Frege's "Concept and Object", "Sense and Reference" (another YIKES!) and "Thoughts" (much easier to understand and read after reading his previous work), Wittgenstein wasn't as difficult and certainly more beneficial to my understanding of modern philosophy than I had previously thought. He takes the traditional Fregen ideas and builds his own on top of them, laying a whole new foundation for the modern philosopher. If one has read Gottlob Frege's works (the founder of Modern Philosophy) than it is only fitting that they should read the works of Wittgenstein (arguably the second most important Modern Philosopher, save for Russel).Read full review
