    Not A Good Raccoon Trap

I set this trap according to recommendation by expert trappers and You Tube videos. When the trap arrived I didn't realize the trigger first needed to be loosened or unless the coon weighed 30 lbs. there is no way it would be tripped. I then set the trap just as instructed. I dug a hole just so the trap would be at ground level and carefully covered with sifted sand because I live in Florida. I dug another tiny hole to bait the trap 6" from the trap. I also put debris such as sticks to make the opening so the varmint would be more likely to enter from only one side where the trap was located. Well raccoons are just too smart for this trap. He managed to dig it up two nights in a row and set it off somehow without any catch. There was no fur in the trap either so how he did it I'll never know. I ordered a dogproof coon trap instead and caught him the first night. Maybe this trap is OK for other animals but no good at all for a smart raccoon.

  • Good traps

I have not used my #1 traps yet but the #2 traps I got from here are awesome. The smaller traps seem to be of the same quality...which is good. Contrary to popular belief the chains do not need to be replaced, they hold angry coyotes just fine. Only thing I noticed on the number 1 traps is at first the springs are really stiff...so a marten might just get its leg snapped right off.....BUT....over time they will soften slightly and work perfectly. Never mind the 'Made in Korea' stamp...overall they are a great quality product.

  • Great steel trap (for armadillas?).

Great quality trap. Will use it in entrance to armadillo hole where our dogs & cats can't get hurt. A first quality trap.

  • Lighter material than others I've tried.

Just started using them. For the money fairly descent. The chains are definitely a lot lighter material than other #1 traps I've used in the past. Will probably rust out a lot quicker, but traps themselves are 'OK" for the money. Nothing horrible to complain about. I'm just comparing to heavier material from other brand names. Overall for what I do, I'd buy more for sure. I am not a professional trapper. Just keep certain species out of my property from eating my trout.

  • Responsive vender Funke, stout traps

I’m trying to catch and kill armadillos destroying my barn floor and foundation. Both traps have been set off twice with inky hair caught. With a slight modification they should work fine next tripping!?! Called vender for calibration questions, and he was very helpful and consulted YouTube-wonderful information in real life situations. Yes recommend this vender and traps. Now looking into conibear 330 traps 🪤 as my pry is larger bodied and lives in hole in the ground 🕳 if I could see them I’d be more humane to single shot to head but I have to sleep when their eating-meds for broken back schedule. These animals can and will destroy a home foundational slab and especially on blocks-cave totaling your home or out buildings!! Nuff said by Cajunflipper

  • wrong description

when I purchased this item I thought it was a # 1 longspring trap that is what the picture shows. instead I received coil spring traps. so we both made a mistake.

  • Lightweight, strong

Looks of good quality, snaps closed hard, looking forward to trying it on my barn woodchucks. Heavily made yet lightweight strong springs, not all rusty. I recommend them

  • difficult to open-set

the traps work just fine but the only way I know to set them is to stand on them which is hard to do when its muddy or are on soft or real grassy area , other than that they are ok. ps I'm 79 so that don't make it any easier : - )
