Good protection but there are some issues
This case does offer an excellent shock absorbing skin that fits over the internal case and screen protector. I would feel confident dropping my phone onto concrete with this case. It does how ever lack water damage protection. The S5 on its own is IP67 rated for splashes as long as your charging port cover is install and back cover seal is intact. How ever those can easily be compromised after a drop. The main issue I've had with this case is the volume buttons are clumsy due to rubber extensions used to make contact with the actual buttons. This extension tends to slip past the button when pressed making it nearly impossible to change volume settings. Lastly, I have retired this case for a lifeproof due to all the issues listed but for a phone this large I find it very helpful to have an option to attach a wrist strap and this case does not allow for this. In all I still recommend this case, and even have it on my parents phones.. So as long as water protect, easy volume adjustments, and wrist straps aren't something you desire to have, then this case might be for you.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Doesn't work properly.

great protection from drops

OtterBox Defender Cases
I think that OtterBox Defender Cases are the best you can buy. I have one for my phone and my wife has one. The only negative (and for some it is a positive) is that it makes the phone a bit bulky. Great protection w good screen protector.
I had a generic "Ulak" brand before this but the plastic screen protector on that was soft and became scratched quickly. The soft rubber surrounding the hard case of the generic also began to tear by the USB port. This seems to be made of better quality. Holder/ Stand flaw

Best phone protection you can get
This OtterBox Defender for Galaxy S5 is a fantastic case. I use it to protect my Galaxy S5, which I also love. I've had both for years and really don't know how improvement could be made on either. Because the S5 is no longer made, it is particularly important for me to protect it. I've bought new batteries for it; but, I've never had to have it repaired or even a screen replaced. I've probably dropped my phone close to 40 times over the last 4 years--and I've never damaged it. This case is thick, heavy, and tough. It's also very bulky; so, it may not be for everyone. But it works fantastic for my needs. I use NFC daily with programable tags--and the thick case does not hinder this function. Best case I've had, ever
This is my secomd time using this case. My phone lasted 4 years with my last case. This is probably the best case on the market if you ask me. Although it's bulky, once you get used to it, it's hard to go back to the crappy cases that don't do anything to protect upur phone. There have been times that I have had GPS signal issues with the case on. This may or may not be the fault of the case. I am still keeping an eye on that.
