Part Number 874710. This is a square blade birdcage scratch awl made by a small Czech firm. It has a beautifully turned stained beech handle with steel ferrule and a high carbon tool steel blade. Scratch Awls are ideal for quickly pre-drilling for screws or even for general mark-out work.

Great tool!
Great tool for marking indent for drilling in both soft and hardwoods. Perfect size and good feel in the hand. Came sharp from Narex and can easily be sharpened. I would recommend this tool to anyone looking for a quality tool at a good price. I will never understand people who pay for ridiculously overpriced boutique tools when this will do just fine. Just my opinion...

Terrible quality product
Seemed well balanced and with good finish. Tried using it to make small shallow pilot holes in mdf and the tip broke! I might have levered it slightly, but comeon, I could have made those holes with a kitchen knife... Ridiculously brittle. Stay well clear!

Point bent at first scripe attempt, i have an old stanley that is from the 60s , American steel. Better than this one by a long shot..
