I will say overall it is a good buy. We live in the American Southwest with day temperatures over 110 and commonly over 100. We go through a lot of ice. I have given up on refrigerator ice maker. Could not keep one person in ice during the entire 24 hour day. We do refrigerate the water that we pour in the reservoir as it helps to not heat the machine. We also found we need to freeze ice cubes in freezer to make them really hard enough to work well. So far I am impressed and if it lasts a year or more I will be happy. Cheaper than buying three or four bags of ice every week. This would not work well for an outdoor situation in our area. No idea of other locations where temperatures would be considerably cooler.

When the icemaker in our refrigerator stopped freezing the water, we were either going to spend two hundred and fifty dollars (just the cost of the probable replacement parts, not including the installation) or go back to ice cube trays in the freezer. The Igloo ice maker gave us a better option. We can use it to fill the refrigerator Ice dispenser so that it appears that the ice maker is still working, and we can take it on our sailboat and make ice for our ice chest using an inverter while underway or 110v power at the marina. We haven't tested it on the sailboat in really hot summer weather yet, so we'll have to see how that goes...

This little box does just keep on making ice on and on and on . . about every 7 minutes. The cubes are small and slightly watery. It is definitely not the ice coming out of your refrigerator ice maker. After after the ice is made, it it not kept super freezing. But for our RV, we can just open the lid and scoop ice whenever we want it. Unused ice melts right back into the water container. Not for a big party, but fine for a small family.
