The Wolfen Empire™ sourcebook provides insight and history about the Wolfen, their past, present and goals for the future. The Wolfen Empire is growing. The 12 Wolfen Tribes, their history and legends.
I got into the Palladium Fantasy RPG back when it had the black cover with the red dragon. It looked foreboding, dangerous. It had a certain flavor D&D did not have, with no basic Fighters, but Mercenaries and Soldiers, Knights and Palladins. There were Wizards, but there were also Summoners, and Diabolists, and *gasp* WITCHES. You could play races outside the basic fantasy tropes - changelings, kobolds, and my personal favorite, Wolfen.
But one thing the book lacked was a big bestiary. We needed more monsters, more creatures, more stats. And that's where this book comes in. It's a meaty manual of menacing monsters to fill your Palladium world with interesting encounters. The black-and-white illustrations are standard for the era, no slick full-color pages back in the 80s. Creatures from the mundane to the fantastic are included, as well as information on where each might be found in the Palladium world. I owned this book when I was a teenager, and it's great to have a copy once again. It's a tiny bit dog-eared, but that's par for the course for books of this vintage that actually saw use at a game table. Highly recommend if you're a gamer who played back in the day, or if you're a younger gamer who wants to see what the roots of the hobby looked like.
I was given Wolfen character to play in a 1st edition Palladium RPG and wanted some background. Even though the Wolfen Empire is for 2nd edition Palladium games, it is served my 1st edition background needs. And it was brand-spanking new with no defects.
