I got this as an upgrade after Comcast increased it's download speeds past my modems capabilities to operate. In other words I hit the ceiling and needed a faster modem to fully use the current and future speeds. The CM700 meets these current and future speed increases and should be good for the next few years. It was any easy self install that just needed me to go to my account and change modem. This modem performs very well. Never have had a problem with Netgear products and recommend this cable modem. I use it with Google Wifi mesh with a Netgear 5 outlet gigabit switch which you will need if you have multiple ethernet applications. Google Wifi should be plugged into the Modem first with the switch plugged into the Google router. I went with the higher capable speed so in the future(hopefully) those higher speeds will be available. I have Spectrum 300 megs download.

This is a great alternative to renting one from the cable company. Pros include compact design, fast connection and low cost. Cons include the fact that you will need a router for wifi and for more than one wired connection. Also the ease of setup is controlled by the cable company. In my case it took longer than it should have. It started working while I was on hold with the cable company after their activation appeared to have failed. It just took a while. Loved the modem after it was activated. I doubt if it would have been any faster with the cable company's equipment.
