This fountain pen is made of brass. It has great proportions and unlike most current fountain pens, it allows the cap to screw not only onto the barrel while closed but also while posted. Even within this model, neither the aluminium or black versions have this feature. The pen can be had in a genuine extra fine point. The size is the most obvious feature once you see it first hand. Closed the pen is only 3.4" long, and only 5.0" long with the cap posted. If you are looking for a fountain pen for writing a long letter you may decide to keep looking, depending on your hand size. If you are looking for a solid, sturdy fountain pen to drop in a pocket or purse, the Liliput Brass can be a sublime choice for occasional use.

This little pen is mightier than the sword. No, you can't use if for self-defense, but it merits an every day carry. It is both indestructible and graceful. The benefits of carrying such a little pen outweigh the downsides of writing with a diminutive instrument. It writes smoothly (after a little buffing on micro mesh) and because of its fine nib, should last a while even with an international cartridge. I'm looking forward to watching it develop a patina after as few more weeks. Already it is showing its utilitarian beauty. This is not a pen for note-taking where you have to post and unpost it frequently, but for those days when jeans and a t-shirt are called for, this holds its own in the front watch pocket. I am loving it.

I have used both the Aluminum version of this pen as well as the brass, the brass is better. The only issue I have had is with the bib having a few hard starts and that there are no good converters. Other than that it is a great pen that I keep in my wallet at all times.

I just got a Midori Passport Traveler's Notebook... It became readily apparat that I needed a pen with an EF nib. The Liliput is exactly what I was looking for because it will easily fit into the 5" zipper case. Being a pen that takes standard international short cartridges, I can throw a few spare cartridges into the bag so that I won't have to worry about running out of ink while I'm in the middle of nowhere! I must admit that I got mine for a few dollars less from a different retailer BUT... The brass body threaded at both ends (allowing you to extend the length of your pen) with an EF nib is not all that easy to find!
