Works great, strong and hard tool for fitting/removing bottom brackets and crank arm lock rings. It fits the following crank arm lock rings: - XTR FC-M950 - XTR FC-M952 - XT FC-M750 (although net tested this one personally, yet) - LX FC-M570 You could use it in a vice but mine also works well when locked into a large pipe wrench. Make sure to use the direction that locks the jaws on the pipe wrench as you loosen or tighten your crank arms or bottom bracket. Also be very careful to keep the tool flush with the notches on the part so that it doesn't disengage when you turn and apply pressure. This is a drawback of the design of this type of fitting, not the tool. I wedge the pipe wrench against my foot on the floor, lean on the crank and tool with my bodyweight to keep it engaged and then tap the crank arm with a rubber mallet to release the crank arm lock ring for the spider or direct-mount rings.Read full review

This tool is good. I use it to install the Euro redline flight bottom bracket on two of my SE Big Ripper bikes. The tool works great. The only thing that I don't like about it is you have to use a big crescent wrench or a really big socket with it. It would have been really nice if ParkTool would have made it so that it attached to a half inch drive socket wrench. I had to take off one star because of this issue.

The "hex" shape of the tool is an EIGHT POINT shape... this means you can NOT used a socket on it. Open end wrench only. Other than that, it works nicely.
