because the people who bought it ran the business into the ground within a year. She was my first artisanal chocolatier, and memories of her amazing (but US sized) truffles still haunt me. She was the one who made me understand that darker chocolate didn't have to be bitter, but could be rounded out to make YOU melt before the truffles did. I used to bring a tin to the shop, within Pioneer Boulangerie in Santa Monica (I lived in Claremont, at the eastern edge of LA county, 60 miles or more away), and deliberate which ones to buy *this* time. I think I could slice each one into 6 slivers to draw out the time when I'd have to wait for the next historical dance session out there. So it figures that I will buy and read any cookbook she cares to produce. I may never make anything from it, but I can dream of the tastes. Did you know she has a low-fat chocolate cookbook? I was amazed. This book is worth the purchase, if only to realise the seasonality to which chocolate can lend itself.Read full review
