a good fit
We recently moved into a small condo. The kitchen is small, cabinet space is limited, and the only wall space for a bin was limited to 12 inches of clearance where the dishwasher door came down. It was a bit of a chore, looking around at options, but the SlimJim and the Dual Rigid Liner Set appeared to be a very good solution. Because they're part of Rubbermaid's commercial division, they're sturdier and better engineered, a little harder to find, and cost more than your standard kitchen trash barrel. We've had step-in trash cans before. Most of the units sold for home use are flimsy, with uneven pressure required for opening, and lids that hit the wall and require clearance. None of that with the SlimJim. You can open it a bit or fully, with even, consistent foot pressure (I know, it sounds silly, but wait until you find yourself working and talking in the kitchen and opening this thing without a thought), it goes right up against the wall, and the lid quietly operates in it's own limited air space. And best for our situation, the liner set means trash and recyclables in one place. Yup, it looks a little industrial. If you can't live without something shiny, maybe you can get creative and decorate it. Otherwise, they're available in colors!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
