Proper 4 core hyperthreaded sixth gen (Skylake) processor. Received clean, dropped right in. Allows running Windows 8.1 Pro without a hack - who knew, right? Plenty of speed for a box supporting an 8 disk RAID5 via Highpoint 2720 on a Z270 motherboard. HD Graphics 530 is a little limiting, but this wasn't meant to play 4K. With an unhacked 8.1, PowerDVD works again. Last of the Media Center installs. OTA isn't what it used to be!

The 6700k CPU and Hyper 212 were awesome and preform great. However the motherboard came with some broken pins, rendering it useless. I found another motherboard for cheap that was a better model so it wasn't a huge issue, but it would have been nice to know the motherboard was broken.

I bought this upgrading from a Core i5 6402p, which is a VERY affordable and reliable system. This was the biggest and best processor my motherboard could handle so I bought thinking it would be a MAJOR upgrade. Upon installing, and gaming after a few hours I was puzzled on why my FPS hadn’t been increased, like at all! After research and research I found out for gaming, your gpu, memory and storage are more important than your cpu(this does not mean the cpu is NOT important, the cpu is just LESS important). However with that said I didn’t take into account how many threads and cores it’s running which was approximately as much as my i5. But instal was simple enough just like any other cpu. This does NOT include thermal paste or a cpu cooler....

Processor overclocked to 4.8 MHz just by raising multiplayer on MSI z170a xpower titanium motherboard. So silicone lottery was good. On other hand memory controller was not. I was able to install 32 GB memory of 2 different G.Skill chips: Trident Z and Ripjaws V. Unfortunately it only runs at 2133 MHz, could not use XMP option to run memory at 3200MHz.

A little out dated but fun to have. A while back I found 3 Asus H270 motherboards. Plain jane, a plus and a extreme. One is together, the others waiting for time to finish. This CPU is the tallest that can be installed on this board. Great internet cruiser.
