I love this book. It's my favorite and has been since it came out. I read it at least twice a year.

I bought this a second time after loaning out the original and not receiving it back. It left a lasting impression on me, and my teenage son as well. The movie was not a good interpretation of the book at all. (as much as I love Robin Williams) The story is great for opening up a dialog about what happens after death, and about your perception of heaven and hell. The descriptions are fascinating. The effect of the book is hopeful and would be a great way to help children and others who are dealing with the loss of a loved one or fears of their own mortality.
If you liked the move, you will love the book! Yes, it differs somewhat, but not too much!

Recently I have been reading books on the "afterlife" and this was obviously one of them. It's been an award winning movie too. Hollywood upped the part where the main character, Chris, has to wander through hell to find his wife who was in a sort of pergutory because she committed suicide. The book made it sound ugly and horrible, but you know how Hollywood does stuff to get the attention of an audience. Anyway, the parts depicting "heaven" for Christ were amazing. The book was easy to follow and in my case, I didn't want to put it down -- it was very interesting and I recommend it for reading as soon as you're able. Charlotte Jones - Phoenix AZ
