The antenna I have is the newer improved Spider Maxx version. A little tricky to assemble with some elements difficult to push into place. However I do have improved reception compared to standard rod antenna that came with scanner. Can pull in some DMR frequencies that I could not get before. Overall seems to be a quality antenna.

I believe that it would go together better if they had holes instead of slots for the tiny wires to go in. We had a hard time keeping the wires in place while we tightened the antenna. Not that great of a design. I also thought that for the price it would have had bigger elements instead of the small wire elements. It works but with the plastic, I'm wondering how long it will last before the plastic dry rots & becomes brittle.

If you're looking for a low cost outdoor antenna option, this may be for you. The assembly is a little more complicated than it first appears but not that time consuming. What I really don't like is that the end of the coax that goes to the radio ends in a Motorola type plug. Yes they include a slide on BNC connector to attach to the Motorola end but.... this is 2018 and I haven't owned a radio that takes a Motorola type connection for over 20 years. It would be very nice for the coax to end with the BNC connector. This is a good bargain but not the most efficient antenna system. Just my opinion.

When put together and installed outside on a ten foot pole it will not pickup any channels. I am not going to return this one already returned one that would not pickup any channels. My unites pickup more channels with the short antenna that was with the scanners when purchased picks up all channels I will receive. IT DID NOT PICK ANY CHANNELLS FOR ME. I HAD OTHER TECH PEOPLE TO TRY WILLIR R WARREN

I have a Scanner antenna that is 45' in the air, This new spider antenna seems to keep up at 30' in the air, I am happy with the results. I recommend this antenna, plus the higher you go the better it works.
