I bought this to replace the plastic nut on a Yamaha LS16 ARE. The idea of a zero fret has always seemed to make sense to me. Strings are vibrating against metal at all times whereas with the usual nut, open strings are vibrating against plastic or bone. I'm no luthier, but happy to do a basic guitar setup so decided to have a go at fitting this myself. Be warned - there is a lot of sanding required. I had to adjust the height, thickness and width (both sides of the neck) using fine wet and dry paper taped to a flat worktop. The zero fret also has to be cut to length, filed and sanded. To get the final finish I used metal polish on the nut and the fret. I am pleased with the result. It looks good. There seems less friction from the nut slots which makes tuning easier. String height at the first fret is at the minimum possible which means holding down chords in the first position is easier. I can't really say if the sound is improved as I added a bone nut and new strings at the same time and the LS16 sounded pretty good to start with. Would I buy another? Maybe - but if I could get a ready to fit bone or Tusq nut cheaper, maybe not.Read full review

I spend too much time having to sand and position and resand to get this to fit a standard Larrivee Parlor guitar with a 1 3/4 nut. I would have been better off to order blank. The other guitars I added the zero glide was a easy job but this one was not.

The zero glide nuts always sound better than the factory nuts! And the bonus is you don’t have to tune as often. Not recommended for novice installers. It takes quite a bit of technical savvy to install correctly.

I have installed several of these but you have to be careful to fit the nut properly.

I've taken my guitar to multiple luthiers with my GS8. None ever adjusted the nut to my liking. Action always too high at first fret. This nut allowed me to tune the height choosing the fret that worked best. Spent a while sanding the nut to fit. Test fit often.
