Use it everyday!
I love this product. My MINI has Bluetooth capability, but only for the phone. To listen to my music, I need this cable. It allows me to not only hear my music, it lets me select the artist or genre, and I can also set it to randomize my music. It even allows me to play music apps like Pandora and iHeart Radio. Disappointing product
Someone posted that they had success using this cable with their older model MINI Cooper. Must be a misleading review, because the audio quality was really distorted when I hooked it up to my 2009 MINI Cooper. Tried it out with two different iPhones. Had better audio success simply using an auxiliary cable and headphone jack connection. Very high audio distortion in an expensive and short cable.
There aren't many options due to the proprietary BMW implementation for iPhone integration. Most use a standard USB connection, which does not require a special cable for proper integration. However when one owns a BMW, there is some expectation of proprietary and expensive options. However the main problem with this one is the sound quality. Comparing to other options, the sound with this one is awful to the point I don't know why I would use other than maybe audio books. Any music with higher dynamics will distort greatly. This main advantage to this cable is that it will work with the "iPod" interface on pre-CarPlay equipment. Generic solutions that provide an analog connection will work in the "AUX" mode, which does not off the same level of control (i.e. steering wheel buttons) for things like pause and skip. The cable length is such that one has to keep the unit in the center console. Most other solutions are longer. I compared this to a generic cable, which I will use instead for music. I also have the 30-pin (pre-lightning) cable with lightning adapter, which also works better and cheaper. For the cost suggested by BMW, this cable falls way short of expectation.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
