Own a collectible half dollar that features an error, something coin collectors love to find. The American 1829 50C Capped Bust Half Dollar was originally and mistakenly engraved with the date '1827,' so that behind the number '9' in '1829,' the subtle outline of the number '7' is visible. Also apparent are the remaining numbers of the original erroneous date, which appear as raised shadows below the corrected date. The obverse side of this correct half dollar depicts Lady Liberty, who is wearing long hair down to her shoulders. She is also wearing a cap that is inscribed with the word 'Liberty' around its brim. Thirteen stars surround her, and the year is featured just underneath her bust. The reverse side of the coin depicts the American eagle, holding olive branches and arrows in his talons.
