a little small but looks to be a good o-ring seal and has metal reinforcement rings at ports
The fact that the plastic seems a little light bothered me at first was compensated somewhat by the metal reinforcement rings around the inlet and outlet. If too much torque is placed on unsupported plastic tapered threads the plastic casting can easily crack, especially when temps are cold. I don't recommend metal fittings for this strainer though. The screen is nicely made and compresses a bit at top and bottom thus making a very effective strainer. The transparent strainer cup is a bit heavier plastic but should be placed above waterline on a boat just in case! There seems to be a good o-ring seal but not sure yet how stiff it will be in 40 degree water. I think I will warm up the o-ring in hot water before seating the screen cup to get the best seating of the housing. I got this for the sea strainer intake for a watermaker on a boat. Should be good enough volume for a 20gpm unit.
