SynopsisKids Gone Fishin' teaches kids proven methods of locating, catching and handling a variety of fish species., No matter where you live, you'll find that it's great fishing for some type of fish. It may be catfish or sunfish in a local farm pond, carp in a nearby river, or crappies and bass in the lake across town. The beginning of this book shows you where different fish types (called species) live. As you page through this book, check out the small colored maps to see which species live in your state. And look closely at the drawings of the fish so you can tell what you have landed. So what species do you think will be your favorite to catch? This book covers: How do I make a fish bite? Teaching kids proven methods of locating, catching, and handling a variety of species. Is it a keeper? What does my fish weigh?, Filled with helpful pictures and charts, Kids Gone Fishin' gives young anglers the skills and knowledge to catch more and bigger fish, from identifying what fish to go after and choosing the right tackle to catch it to whether you can keep it and how to clean it when you do. If you're like most young anglers, you don't care what kind of fish you catch as long as you get something. After all, while it's fun just to be outside spending time away from home (chores) and school (tests), fishing is the most fun when you catch fish . No matter where you live, you'll find great fishing for some type of fish. It may be catfish or sunfish in a local farm pond, carp in a nearby river, or crappies and bass in the lake across town. Find out what types of fish you can find near you by looking at the pictures and descriptions of a range of fish types paired with a map showing where they live in North America. And look closely at the drawings of the fish so you can tell what you have landed. By reading Kids Gone Fishin' , you'll learn proven methods for locating, catching, and handling all sorts of freshwater fish . This book is also filled with little-known fish facts , like: Did you know that some of the fish you catch are older than you? Get answers to all your fishing questions: What can I catch? How do I make a fish bite? What hook, bait, lures, and other tackle do I need? What does my fish weigh? Is it a keeper? It won't take you a lot of time to read this book. That's good, because you'll have more hours for fishing! But bring this book along on your next fishing trip , because somewhere in these pages is the one thing that will make all the difference between getting skunked and catching the biggest fish of your life . Good luck!, No matter where you live, you'll find great fishing for some type of fish. • Excellent learning tool for freshwater fishing.

This book is good for children as well as adults. It teaches the basics of how to fish a variety of fish, the tackle setup necessary for each kind and the best locations to find them. There are good diagrams on how to rig your rod and tie the hook on. I originally bought a new book as a gift and after I read it I ordered a used one for myself. I'd forgotten so much about how to rig up that I needed a refresher. Also it isn't a big bulky book but instead an easy size to throw in your tackle box.
