What primarily causes the need for a replacement is that loading ladders on the roof rack without great care may result in irreparable damage to the antenna and mount. The bad part of all this it that you have to take down the interior front headliner to get at the antenna mount and the little plastic box that houses the RF amp and is attached to the coaxial cable end. What a big job! If only there was a way to reach up in there with one hand to spin the retaining nut onto the M5 .80 metric bolt. If anybody knows a way to do this let me know.
