There is one particular section in the book where the possibility and odds of space aliens having visited earth many, many years ago. Beginning with the known estimate of the universe's beginning and carrying the reader through statistically plausible events such as the time required for a civilization to acquire the skills for space travel, etc., the author builds a credible case that space travelers may have visited long ago (hence, Easter Island and other mysterious occurrences on earth)but the chances of a repeat are slim. Two universes (measured in the light of their star (sun)would have to develop simultaneously and that was equated to the snap of a finger in the whole scheme of things. It gave this reader the distinct understanding that time is relevant and gets one out of the confined thinking that all things must fit our understanding of development in terms of what constitutes an advanced civilization. In a summary fashion, a planet such as earth could have developed, ran the course of its life, and died when its star died ... and they could have done all the things we dream of doing now -- like going to Mars and beyond. For those of you who like that type of mind-stretching stuff, this is a book for you and its wrapped around stories of our test pilots and astronauts.Read full review
Once you start reading this one's hard to put down. Every bit as good as Tom Wolfe's The Right Stuff.
