  • The Shield

I'm a fan of the superhero comics in the golden age that were not Marvel or DC. Most of these comics have gone to the realm of public domain. The Shield initially appeared in Pep Comics. He was actually the first patriotic superhero, published before Captain America. DC gobbled up a whole lot of those characters and the Shield was one of the key characters. They released a new title and storylines as :"The Legend of the Shield." The artwork was greatly improved as was the writing. This character is one of my favorites and I highly recommend.
