I met my husband online last Jan. One thing he hadnt told me was he was legally blind. I was very surprized, we got in my car and I had a dubbed copy of the August Rush soundtrack and had it qued to song number 9, then played song 7 we listened to this cd for 7 mo straight and it had skips in it. The other day my husband popped it in the player and my stomach got butterflys and was filled with memories of our first days together I started thinking I could get a new disk online, came home found a buy it now:)Ive never felt so loved in my life and all of the memories had August Rush playing in the background:) We dearly love every song on this disk and the movie was the best I have ever seen! Its inspirational and full of talent!! Mike and Jazz Biggs
I just had to have this CD since first buying the DVD 2 years ago. I am NOT a sit down TV watcher. Being ADD/ADHD and living in a world where to me, everythin and everyone is moving in slow motion, TV period is NOT of interest to me. Bought the DVD for my husband. The minute he pushed play, I was capivated. I stood for the first 40 minutes of the movie until my hubby asked if I was just going to stand there all day. My hubby has brain damage and no short term memory so if he likes something, he plays it over and over and over again. It is so good that I too, no matter what I am doing I stop, sit(ya...I now sit;)and watch the DVD through to the end. We actually had to buy a new DVD since we worn the 1st one out. This CD is even better, It is hard to find but I am so glad my search finally paid off. It takes me away as if I am in the movie itself watching the magic happen. Depressed? Sad? Need a smile and a happy tear? gotta get these because you can't help feel the magic no matter who you are.....you will be deeply touched. (and GUYS, this is NOT a chic flick) :)Read full review
I bought this CD because I collect anything to do with Alex O'Loughlin. He starred as Marshall in this movie, and as always, he shines. Alex was thought to be perfect for the lead role but at that time he was not famous enough; so the part of Marshall was rewritten and made larger just for him. As his fans know, Alex went on to make more movies and is now a star on Hawaii Five-0. Fans still miss Moonlight and Three Rivers but we love Alex as Steve McGarrett. The man can do no wrong on film. Having said all of that, on to the CD. If Alex had not been in this movie I probably wouldn't have watched it. I am not a fan of Jonathan Rhys Meyers and when I watch the film I can only imagine what it could have been like if Alex had played the lead. Alex is Australian. Jon is Irish. Alex's Irish accent for the movie was so much better than Jon's. Nuff said. Another fun fact for Alex O. fans is that he got to play his guitar and sing in the scenes where he and his brother (Jon) were in the band. He and Jon shared a place in Manhattan with Jon's brother while filming and had a ball. OK, I am still not talking about the CD... I enjoy this CD because of the diversity of the music. My taste is eclectic to say the least, and these tracks are all quite different. That is what I usually like about movie soundtracks - all different kinds of music. Whether you watch the movie or listen to the soundtrack the song "Moondance" will be stuck in your head. Not Van Morrison's, but Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I suppose he did a fair job, but I would have preferred to hear Alex O. do it. "God Bless the Child" is nice, and the rest is great if you enjoy guitars, and I do. Bottom line: true Alex O'Loughlin fans need this to go along with their August Rush DVD - and it is a very pleasant CD in general.Read full review
Since the major premise of the film was the DNA from his parents both being excellent musicians in both classical and pop music realms, our orphan hero's journey to the Juilliard School in NYC is ripe with excellent solo acoustic guitarand full blown symphonic tracks. If you watch the film on an HD TV with a 5.1 Dolby sound system you KNOW the film score arrangers pulled out all the stops to make this a stellar effort. The full blown score of the climactic orchestral piece seems to be a few minutes SHORTER on the soundtrack in comparison to the film. Some of the guitar pieces are missing as is August's church organ solo. Still, its a nice soundtrack, but had the recording crew used ALL the music from the film, it would have been a knock-out. It seems like they were in too big a "rush" to get this recording on the shelves and possibly for access to copyrights might have been a temporary excuse.Read full review
The thing i like most about the cd is the variety of music . You have some classical, pop, spiritual,a little rock and some old stuff( which is all me ).All of the musicians are very talented. In the movie (August Rush ),the music makes the movie.I love the choir singing, especially the little girl.Probably the best song on the cd is the one thats not in the movie ,and that would be "Someday ", by John Legend, which is the main reason i bought the cd.The only thing i dislike about the cd is the absence of the short but very "healing " song "Father ".This song has maybe 4 or 5 verses, when its over you can't believe thats it !!You just want more.
