Title: Dust Be My Destiny. Then a showdown with his sadistic foreman ends in the older mans accidental death. So Joe makes a run for it with the foremans pretty stepdaughter (Priscilla Lane). Format: DVD.
This is not his biggest movie but it distills what Garfield was as a performer and legend. Sure, sure, he was bitter and downtrodden but he could never not care about the people around him. Priscilla Lane is a delight here too. Throw in Frank. McHugh, Charlie Grapewin and Alan Hale and you have a collection of master celluloid story tellers.
