I got almost everything I was expecting. The meter was fine and in great shape. The manual enclosed was a real surprise. I used to use this think (Simpson 260) back in Engineering School labs in the 1970's. I was kind of dismayed at the leads. I only needed one and got a potpourri of odds and ends for test leads. However on the 3 sets enclosed only one was of any value. It was surprising that the coiled up set, had removable plug jacks that had the correct meter jacks inside it. These coiled red and black leads were actually superior to the originals Simpson supplied. So yes I am happy. And the hardened case was a real bonus too.

Unfortunately it did not operate on any AC volatages but after a little troubleshooting, found a bad solder joint on one of the resistors and corrected it. Dont feel like it was the dealers fault......just one of those things that happens sometimes with electronic equipment.

Simpson Electric has made the 260 Volt-Ohm-Miliammeter (VOM) since the 1930s. They were standard issue for the U.S. military in World War II and have been the gold standard for accuracy, durability and reliability for decades. Even though digital multimeters have largely replaced their analog forebears, Simpson still produces the 260 and even though the current would look completely at home on a 1940s test bench, they have seen numerous internal improvements over the years. If you're looking for an old-school, commercial grade analog VOM, your search should begin and end with a Simpson 260.
