We recommend this unit. We use it to top off our solar batteries off grid system. We recommend you look up "how to break in small motors" and follow it closely. All troubles with small generators are because they were not broken in properly. Its quiet and smooth.

It ran for two minutes before it actually blew up. No kidding. I wish this thing was good because I love the concept, but it's just not. Save your hard earned money because my friends with Champion inverter generators have been using them for years without issue. Is there another generator this small? No, but I live at 2800ft of elevation and with warm summer temps the "density altitude" (what altitude the generator thinks it's at) is well over 5000ft so what is the output of this generator even if it were to run well. 500W? The next step up for generators is usually 1750-2000W rated, and if you are at altitude at least you could hope to get a reasonable level of electricity from the thing. Not so this unit, so maybe it did me a favor by blowing up in less than 5 minutes so that I would return it. No product is going to be perfect and every product will have a percentage of bad units, but who is "Baja"? There are other brands like Yamaha, Honda (too expensive), or Champion that have well established warranty and service departments, so that's the other thing that has occurred to me after this experience. If this generator had died at 1 year I would have simply had to throw it away, and that's a waste of money when there are better options with a higher chance of success. Read full review

I used the BAJA at high elevation 5,500+Ft. I plugged into a power strip. Added 1 AC To DC Converter plug which allowed a DC Multi-Port: 1 Single DC Quick Charger for 2 droid micro’s, & 1 IOS Lightning Port. *After an hour, I removed the IOS To A Native Charge Adapted & 3’Ft. Cable And the IOS Charged much faster, As did the other 2 Devices. On AC to DC Plug: Device 1—Micro port plug/Rechargeable Led bulb lamp Device 2—Micro port plug/Rechargeable Desk Lamp Fan Device 3—IOS Port/Charging Plug, iOS Phone **It Took 3hrs To Charge All 3 Devices From 100% Drained. The BAJA Was Difficult To Start At High Altitude for the first try. NOTE: I Bought A 5’ft 1lb lpg braided hose to 20lb. Tank End. I wished I had about 8’ft instead of 5’ft., But made due. Also, what other reviewers Say about the 1lb inlet threads is True. —This is the WEAK SPOT with this unit.— Also, if you don’t thread the 1Lp side just right And straight, It Won’t Start. Take your time, thread the 1 LB. Hose End Through the 1Lb canister cradle bracket wickets. Carefully! And Do Not Detach It. Only Detach It At the 20lb tank end. Spare yourself the hassle Of ruining the BAJA’s 1Lb inlet point. I ran it for 3hrs from a 20Lb tank. And as I stated, it did it’s job. However, for sensitive electronics, Next time, I’ll be adding a small our sine wave AC inverter, so I can protect my IOS Devices From the modified waves from the BAJA’s Own MODIFIED Inverter. —I will not charge my iOS again using only A modified sine wave. I saw weird things as my phone was charging. Less, when I moved It to the native IOS Charge plug, plugged into The power strip I was using. It also increased The speed of the IOS Device charge time. I’d Like To Have Had A Quick Connector For The 20Lb. End, or Better, A 10Lb Tank. It Would Have Been Enough For 2 Weeks Of Camping/Charges For My Mini Devices. Is It A Good Buy? Yes. Know that a 20Lb Tank Will Run $35/New Plus $14+/- To Put 4.7 Gallons Of Lp in it. And, get yourself a 1Lb to 20Lb 8’ft braided Convention hose. (Chipmunks chew rubber) Or Better, a 10Lb Tank w/braided hose And go have fun. Ps: The spark plugs are very hard to find. So buy a few of them now, IF you can find them. I went to 2 ATV Shops, 3 hardware Stores, and 2 Auto stores before I could Find the spark plugs. O’Reily’s Auto Parts Was where I finally bought their last 2 units. And, I bought Quality 4-Stroke 10w/30 oil But kept the original oil container that comes with the BAJA for a Perfectly measured oil replacement while Out on the road or trail. I also bought bulk filter material so I can just Cut to size a replacement for the onboard filter once it’s dirty. ATV Stores are the place To buy the bulk filter material. —The BAJA Has A Built-In Regulator, So don’t let some dude try to sell you another external regulator. That happen To me at the big orange logo hardware store. Ironic, because they sell these BAJA’s Through their online/pickup service, Ship to store. Anyways, versus carrying a 500watt/1000watt Jackery or Yeti, For The Price, The BAJA got My Business. ($250 average sales price) And another $20 for a braided converter hose, $35 for a new 20Lb Lp Cylinder & $14+/- to Fill it. Then $2 per spark plug, $7 4-Stroke 10w/30 Oil, and $10 for bulk filter material, I spent about $340 for a good set-up. **It’s Not Very Loud Either. And you can mitigate the noise by pointing The exhaust end away from ears. **I’ve Said Enough** My Picture Is Of The BAJA in A Changing Tent, Propped Up in the back, So the exhaust didn’t Melt it. There Was A Threat For Rain, But I Had To Charge My Devices Up, So I Used The Tent. Anyways,, It’s A Safe, Cheaper Way To Make Power, But With Only 1x 700watt /120Volt AC Socket. DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK, and make your decision. I’m no expert, so don’t rely on my review. But I like this little BAJA Unit. 👍🏼Read full review

I read all the reviews and I it sounded like this was little more than a toy. Complete non-sense. I have now used this twice in the past week with rolling blackouts in CA. Yes, limited watts, but it is great for the essentials. It powers the wifi, tv, lamps, computer monitors and the computer and phone charger without any issues. I think of it as the essentials generator. I have a larger Firman propane generator to power the refrigerator and freezers. I am impressed with how quickly it fires up, and I'm not sure what the other users beef is with the accompanying hose to connect to a 20lb propane canister, but it is long enough and works just fine. I agree that if you are not careful you will cross thread the propane port, but if you leave the hose in place you are good to go.

bought this to replace my RYOBI which quit producing power after only 10 hours RYOBI refused to honer there so called 3 year warranty because I bought it on Ebay and not at Home Depot. This little Baja is an exact duplicate of the Ryobi, made at the same factory, same parts, same assembly identical in every way except the color and the name on the stick on otherwise same labels, plus it was $100 dollars less money. Long story short Got it home, started right up, run a 10 hour break in, changed the oil, bought a 4 ft propane hose for use on 20 LB cylinder and it is performing exactly as advertised.
