Panasonic is a quality brand and the VCR works fine. It didn't include the remote, but I had a universal remote that was easy to program. Hopefully this will last a few years as we have a bunch of old VHS tapes that we like to watch.

After running three tapes through the machine, there was a message that the heads needed to be cleaned. The video then stopped; although audio continued. Head cleaner has been ordered.

The machine functions as was described in the listing EXCEPT it doesn't playback in S-VHS. I need this feature to access old tapes that I had produced as a video professional for the University of Wisconsin. I am in the process of inputing these tapes into a computer where I can further edit them and place the digital versions of them in the university archive. I can use the machine, but not in the way I had intended when I made the purchase. So, I'm back to scouting for a functioning S-VHS vcr to continue my work.
I have three in use in the house. We always buy this model so that everyone knows how to work it and the remote all work the same. We use them everyday of the week and have found them extremely reliable.
