Story of a prisoner of the Nazi's who was to die but picked instead to run the lab for Mengele.
It was a gift for my brother who owned it many years ago and loaned it out to a client of his who never returned it. He said he found that book so interesting he had occasionally gone back and re-read parts. He told me about that book so often I knew he wished he had never loaned it out so I bought him this one as a birthday gift. He called to say thank you (had it shipped to his house) and he said, 'this copy is much nicer than the one I owned'!
It was the perfect birthday gift. Evidently was nicely packaged and he is always telling me to read it, must be very interesting. Not a horrible story but one about a very proficient lab director who was picked to run the lab for Mengele and it saved his life.
Heavy read about Auschwitz concentration camp working under Dr. Mengele
The title says it all. Anyone who doesn't know about the holocaust or believe it happened needs to read this book and others by this and other authors on the subject. I purchased it after visiting the camps in Poland and upon returning to the USA.
The author was a prisoner doctor who oversaw the crematoriums and pyres at Birkenau and Auschwitz where millions murdered/exterminated by the Nazi's. He was an eyewitness to the atrocities and survived to document what really happened.
It's one thing to take a tour, see the buildings and imagine what it must have been like. It's another to learn what really happened from a more detailed personal perspective by a survivor.
