The best way to still enjoy 'Hay Stacks' with out all the fat from corn chips even though you use Irish potato or sweet potato chips. It takes a little time to make your own chips but healthy life style takes a little more time and thought. Which is better spending time in the kitchen or time in the hospital IF you make it there in 'time'. After rinsing the potato slices to get rid of starch I continue to soak them in a salt brine for 30 minutes then spread them on paper towel before inserting them in the Ronco tray. That way the chips have a slight salt taste. After the chips are dry, salt won't stick to them. This way you don't get near as much salt as you do on store bought chips which is better for you also. Sweet potato chips take about 3 times longer in the micro wave which is about 13 minutes in a 900 watt machine.Read full review

The chip tray works okay, if you leave space between each chip. I also had to add time to get them crispy. I would highly advise NOT using the potato slicer. It is cheaply made, small, hard to maneuver and as a result, I cut my finger badly using it.

The only reason I gave it a one star is because I wasn't able to give it no stars. This is a hunk of junk. It melted in my microwave and took three times as long as what the manufacturer says. Buyer beware. Save your money. This is pure garbage

Makes (small) oil-free perfectly-crisp potato chips. I also make oil-free tortilla chips on it. Recipe booklet came with it.
