Down-riggers and rods and reels are a large investment. The swivel helps to me a great need in rotation, but the base is help together by two small machine screws 1/4” deep in the plastic. You can hand tighten and strip these or put a heaven load on and your entire rod, reel and down-rigger investment is lost. Poor quality and design.

This is a well made piece. I have a Penn downrigger so I had to machine a plate to fit the Penn base plate to the Cannon swivel mount. I like the Cannon swivel better because it has 22 detent positions and has a low profile.

The plastic has had cracking problems after a couple years of use. Troll master makes a base that fits the cannon downriggers and is much stronger with no problems.
