About this product

Product Information

The Fishman TriplePlay is a MIDI guitar pickup that can be added to and removed easily from most electric guitar models, allowing you to easily transform the sound of your guitar. Complete with a guitar controller and software that is easy to use, soon you may find yourself making amazing and unique sounds that you never thought possible. To get true sounds, all you have to do is plug the device into your favorite guitar. Before you know it, you'll have an unlimited number of instruments at your disposal. Using a MIDI sequencer, you can recreate the sound of any instrument, including an organ, a drum kit, or even a full orchestra on your six-string electric instrument. The included software suite has everything you need to get the most out of TriplePlay, including Komplete Elements, SampleTank 2 XT, and Progression 2, all of which enable you to create music notation and tablature from what you play rather than having to enter it by hand. With this device and your favorite guitar, you can make custom samples, loops, beats, and tracks that can then be sent to your band or your computer. When performing live on stage, you can use traditional guitar pickups, the Fishman TriplePlay, or a blend of both to create professional soundscapes and put on a high-quality show. It has over 100 feet of range between the guitar controller and the system, so you can easily play onstage, in the park, at another favorite hangout spot, or in the recording studio. With a durable metal and composite finish, this MIDI device looks great on any electric guitar. This controller measures about 3.25 inches by 2.93 inches and has a depth of 0.51 inches while the pickup measures 4.11 inches by 0.34 inches. Due to its low-profile design, the device can be left on the guitar even when it is in its case. It is easy to install and remove, making it easy to use on different guitars depending on your needs. You can change the settings, the instrument, or the sounds even while you are in the middle of a performance. It has a rechargeable lithium ion battery onboard that gives the controller 20 hours before needing a recharge. The USB-powered receiver can easily interface with any iOS device, such as your iPhone or iPad, or your computer. The Fishman TriplePlay wireless controller comes with a variety of accessories so that you have everything you need to make the audio you want. It includes the wireless controller, the hexaphonic pickup, and a wireless USB receiver. A metal spacer tool helps you gauge the appropriate distance from the guitar's bridge. You can also use a small screwdriver for any micro adjustments that may be needed to make the sound quality even better. Additional accessories include mounting hardware, a charge pack, and a USB charging cable. Download the software directly to your iOS device or computer, and you are ready to start playing with music you never dreamed you could play.

    The Best System Yet!

OK, analog to midi conversion on the fly for a guitar has been frustrating road for guitarists. It isn't perfect, but the TriplePlay Midi pickup really does raise the bar for the competition. As I expected, I had do the setup right. Use the silly little string height tool and make sure the pickup is centered under all 6 strings. On my guitar, this meant that both E strings weren't perfectly centered, but once I got the string height right, they still worked just fine. Finally, I needed to tighten up my technique a bit to keep the false-ing out of my way. But so what. A lighter, consistent touch across the strings damn near eliminated every issue I ran into and is a good skill to have in your tool bag. I'd love to have a second one to try out on an acoustic guitar.... my old Roland failed miserably at that task. My only design improvement would be to make the individual sensors slide a tiny bit along the pixkup so as to compensate for different string spacing.

  • Top critical review

Doesn't live up to the promise.

I was pretty hopeful about the Fishman Triple Play after seeing several online reviews. The concept is great and it connects and holds a battery charge well. It's also easy to install, but that's where the good news stops. Even when set up optimally, it tracks poorly and you encounter many unintended ghost notes, even when playing very cleanly. The software suite is cumbersome and sometimes unreliable. If this tracked more consistently, I'd at least be able to use it for recording some basic tracks, but other than laying down some string pads, I've found it essentially useless. I wish I had never purchased this.

  • Best Guitar to Midi Solution so far..

Brilliant product. Playing guitar into all my VST's opens up a whole new door to me. I love that the Fishman is wireless - I can play without worrying about tripping over another chord. The tracking is good enough transpose an idea into my DAW for some final touches. I tried the JamOrigen plugin with no success. I am definitely going to keep this product. I see it as a valuable tool in my production collection.

  • Fun once you know how to use it.

It is a good product. The only thing that stop me to put 5 Stars, it's because it's not as user friendly as it should. I'm having a hard time to load plugins even following the instructions. Besides that, it's a good time to have .

  • MIdi Guitar that works

Finally, a midi setup for guitar that doesn't require the player to significantly change playing technique for accurate tracking. I've been playing for over 50 years...installed this and immediately can just PLAY!!! Tremendous job, Fishman. I have tried every midi guitar setup...none come even close.

  • Installing the "Don't Tell The Wife . . " Fishman Triple Play on a Strat Project.

I now can drive all my hitherto mothballed synth modules. A star is born!
