This a great "voice" addition to a hybrid set-up. You have the option of response on the downward motion of the foot or response on both the downstroke and upstroke of the foot. It does not seem very loud, but it does project on its own. A mic will make it as loud as you want. If you are willing to spend the time with touch and independence, there are really a number of possibilities. I used it for the first time on a couple of gigs this past weekend and the people I perform with had nothing but good things to say about the new addition. I used both the downstroke option and the upstroke/downstroke option. My only concern at this point is that occasionally the "upstroke" portion did not speak. That could be user error though as it really does necessitate a certain degree of touch particular to the apparatus. All in all I am very glad I purchased the Meinl Foot Cabasa. I look forward to developing the touch and independence to fully utilize this unique instrument.Read full review

Needs adjustment is kind of cumbersome, but is a good instrument once you get use to it.
