This is my 7th digital camera. Before I bought this one I made a list of 21 features I really wanted, but are often lacking on digital cameras. This had all but one of those features (I wanted it to use AA batteries, this does not). It has many other features that are great, but not on my list of must haves. If you want a camera will lots of feature and a fair price, investigate this one. the 50X optical zoom is amazing. The camera is very rugged, and is dust & weather seal, a nice feature I was not looking for. I read online, that the images have noise in them, maybe that was true at the time of older reviews, or maybe I just good a good one. Going to put two images with this review. One shows two pictures of the same view, but at extremes of it's zoom - 24mm & 1200mm as 35mm equivalents, looking at a house, and zoomed into a drive way lamp, notice the detail in the zoomed part of that view. The other picture is of the moon, this was without the use of a tripod, not retouching, and no auxiliary lenses just a point and shoot picture, not perfect, but pretty darned good.Read full review

This camera was bought as an exact replacement for a camera I have been using for the past six years. I am an "experienced" amateur photographer who loves to take photos but dislikes having to figure out apertures and f-stops, etc. This camera is the BEST at sophisticated point and shoot operations. The zoom capability and the clarity of photos is amazing. Size and weight make it relatively easy to be as still as possible although this is a very forgiving product. I rarely move the controls off automatic and have won a prize at my local photo club based primarily on the camera's ability to convert my composition skills into beautiful results. Depth of field is the best I've ever seen even in some of the more expensive and sophisticated cameras on the market.

I have two LUMIX high end cameras that are quite good with lenses by Leica. With that being said the FujiFilm S4000 is a very good camera. What I really like about is it requires (4) AA batteries. You can get them anywhere in the world. This is a plus where you don’t have to bring a quantity of extra batteries and chargers. The photos are of very good quality, however the video capabilities are limited. All in all a nice camera that is easy to use. Love it!

This is a great bridge camera. The lag is small. The zoom works great out to about 43-47x or so. It is simply loaded with features, yet is easy to use on auto. Probably one of the best Point and Shoot cameras out there. I purchased this as a "canoe camera" because of the water-resistant feature (not tested yet, mainly to withstand splashing) but it has become my favorite. There may be better cameras on the market now, but it was a great deal on Ebay. Not a pocket camera. But I do semi-pro photography for articles I write, and this camera is significantly easier to use than previous bridge cameras. Technology is constantly improving.

You get the best shots when shooting outdoors in daylight. Whether you are shooting super macro or ultra zoom, you can get incredibly close to your subject and end up with pictures that are vibrant and sharp. The only reason I didn't give the camera five stars is that it lacks a little something for indoor shooting. The image on the EVF and on the screen was somewhat dim in low-light conditions, making it difficult to tell whether the camera was focusing properly or not. The pictures didn't turn out badly, in fact most were quite good, but I would have liked to be able to see them better before clicking the shutter.
