About this product

Product Information

Robust and sophisticated, the Citizen AT4004-52E watch not only looks amazing but functions very well. Under its silver base, black dial, and gold-trimmed case is an Eco-Drive E650 mechanism that ensures precise movements and timekeeping. This Citizen chronograph watch for men is one of the flagship models that Citizen makes. With all the functions you need and want under its beautiful two-toned finish, this watch is a gorgeous and functional accessory. As an elegant piece of jewelry, this Citizen Eco-Drive makes a great gift for yourself or for any of the men in your life. The one-second solar Japanese quartz chronograph built into the Citizen Eco-Drive A-T watch for men measures up to 60 minutes. The watch offers an alarm that can be set to a certain time, to go off as a countdown timer, or to chime the hour. This Citizen Eco-Drive watch has three hands, glowing markers, and date and day-date readouts. Inscribed on the outer dial is a silver color tachymeter, running from 60 to 400. This tachymeter on the black dial lets you measure speed and distance traveled. The Citizen Perpetual Chrono Eco-Drive watch for men also includes a subdial for reading it as a 24-hour watch. With the Eco-Drive, watches like this one can convert any light, outdoor or indoor, into the energy it needs. The Eco-Drive then stores that energy in a power cell. With this technology, you can keep your Citizen Eco-Drive watches working for as long as six months in complete darkness on a full charge. The award-winning Eco-Drive battery cells from Citizen never need replacement, and they have been shown to have over 90 percent of their original storage capabilities after a decade of use. Using atomic timekeeping technology and synchronized time adjustment, you can have up to five time zones configured while a perpetual calendar chronograph helps you stay up to date at a glance. These stainless steel Citizen watches are water-resistant up to 200 meters, or 660 feet. That makes these Citizen watches approved for showering, swimming, boating, snorkeling, and diving. The screw-down crown offers an excellent watertight seal for extended use when at the pool or the beach. These Citizen Eco-Drive Perpetual Chrono A-T watches for men are a reminder that watches are jewelry too. The strap is made of two-tone stainless steel. The strap boasts a gold stainless steel fold over clasp that's secured with a hidden double-push button. The case for these Citizen Eco-Drive watches is also made of stainless steel. The color of the dial background is black. Underneath the black background and beneath a sapphire non-reflective crystal, it features luminous highlights. The sapphire non-reflective crystal means that this chronograph has a high scratch resistance. A reserve power drive keeps you abreast of the battery level and takes only a few minutes with any light source to refresh. An indicator light on the Citizen A-T lets you know the chronograph watch is running on its reserve power drive. These Eco-Drive watches measure 42mm in width and 13mm in depth. These Citizen watches for men come in presentation boxes and instruction manuals.

Great function and style, perfect watch for business dress and casual.

I like the 2 tone look, especially the gold accents which add more luxury look to the watch. My top reasons for picking it were radio controlled to have atomic clock accuracy, Citizen's quality, and inexpensive for a designer or higher end watch. I researched the movement of the watch as my first step. I've had name brand designer watches that aren't accurate. I needed a watch that I could count on for telling time! Swiss movements and Japanese (seiko, casio, citizen) appeared similar in terms of quality and accuracy. But, Japanese movements are far less expensive. Casio's are not dressy or formal, so that left Seiko and Citizen for me. Citizen had the best options for radio controlled syncing with the atomic clock, and great pricing, and perfect styling. I was sold! I love my purchase! It's also water resistant rated for everyday showering, swimming, and snorkeling. I don't plan on testing it, but it's nice to know I don't have to worry about it around water.

    Most accurate watch

This watch is accurate to the second and looks stylish doing it. The display is easy to read which is a problem for some watches costing much more. The only reason I gave it 3 instead of 5 stars is that you can't charge the battery on indoor light and in the short days of winter you can't charge it outside in the limited sun either( even if there was enough light you can't leave it out in less than 14 degree temperatures). In the summer the watch will get too hot in direct sunlight. The only answer was to buy a product made specifically made for this problem - an led light that put out 15,0000 to 30,000 Lux. You need to leave it charge for 35 to 45 hours before you can use the watch reliably without worrying that it will stop under your long sleeve shirt or over night. Once fully charged it's good to go. You don't want it to stop because this watch is complicated to reset manually. I live on the east coast so the atomic time keeping is erratic. If you get a reliable atomic time keeping signal it will reset the watch for you daily at 2:00 AM. For me the accuracy and style was enough to overcome the downside and I would buy it again.

  • My first Citizen.

I love this watch. Very stylish. I get complemented on it from my customers all the time. I have always bought cheap watches and replaced them once or twice a year. Citizen is all my brother n law would wear. He passed away about 12 years ago. About a week ago I was going threw his stuff and found his watch. A few secs in the sun and it started right up. The leather band had to be replaced (no big deal). I gave the watch to his nephew. I was so impressed I bought one and loving it. Now my thoughts on this watch. It was kinda hard getting the watch set up. The video on citizen web site is a little off you need to zero the watch before setting the time. I set the watch in the sun about 4 hours before I started messing with it. ( I felt it needed a decent charge to start with) the hands are easy to read in the dark. The face of the watch is in my mind the perfect size. So far zero complaints

  • Great features on this reliable Eco Drive watch

I'm really impressed with the Citizen range of Eco-Drive watches. They charge really quickly lasts a long time and very readable in the dark. Slightly complicated to set up but once done it's a great watch for the active individual and no messing around with batteries. They compare favourably to the Seiko solar watches with their performance. Watch the prices, they have some good deals come up every now and then.

  • Nice Watch!!

i really like this watch, its quite attractive. After 40 years of timex that seemed to be dying faster and faster, i thought i'd try a watch that they claim can last 20 years. So far i am pretty happy with it. i like the Atomic Clock feature and i really needed an alarm. Too bad there is no count-down timer, but its analog, so you can only add so many features.

  • Another beautiful, awesome Citizen watch.

This watch is beautiful, functional and durable. The colors on this piece are classic and warm. The gold bezel and black face contrast boldly with the silvery stainless steel band and case, while the gold and white accents stand out, giving both clarity and style. The case measures 42 MM without the crown giving it great presence without making it gaudy and crass as so many watches are now. This watch draws the eye and garners attention and admiration, while not sacrificing elegance and class. Anyone who owns and Eco-Drive watch will tell you that if they ever think of it at all, they only think of how great it is to NOT have to think about it. When your watch never needs winding, never needs a battery and never stops, what's to think about? Just wear it(or even place it where light can fall on it) and it will be ready when you are. The perpetual calendar will remain accurately calibrated until the year 2100 once set. It even accounts for leap years. With it's radio controlled accuracy the time will ALWAYS be accurate to the second. I was a bit fuzzy on this feature until I researched it. The "Radio" that controls the time is actually a worldwide network calibrated with the actual Atomic Clocks. The Atomic clocks are based on the vibration of Cesium-133(yeah that helped), which means that they are accurate to one second in 100 MILLION years. OH! THAT I could get. And since the watch itself isn't atomic, it automatically updates via radio between 2 and 3 AM every night. No worries. Add to all that, the chronograph, alarm, FIVE quickly set time zones, clearly legible day of the week and handy power reserve meter and you have one powerful little package. Next factor is durability. The case and band are all stainless steel. Solid and durable without being uncomfortably heavy. The crystal is one of my favorite features. If I am going to pay for a good watch and read that it does NOT have a Sapphire crystal I lose all interest. I've had enough mineral crystal watches that I accidentally bumped or slid against something metal...a door frame, a seat bracket, even just a car key or pocket knife clip in my pocket and later noticed a scratch on the crystal. In my opinion a mineral crystal is the mark of a cheap watch. Even a "Flame Fusion" "Sapphlex", "Hardlex", etc, etc, are unacceptable IMO. If it doesn't say "Sapphire" I'm not interested. I know mineral is more flexible and Sapphire is more "brittle" so mineral is preferable for diving watches. I don;t dive. So make mine Sapphire please. Overall, this watch has an amazing array of features all wrapped up in a beautiful, durable package that is EXTREMELY hard to surpass for the modest prices it can be found at. I like it so much I bought another one in gold with brown accents and am considering the same watch in stainless and black/gray. Among my other watches, I own Tag Heuer, Oris, JeanRiachard, Aragon and even an Invicta(Sub Aqua Noma I). But there's a reason I own FIVE Citizens: I LOVE my Citizen watches. This review is a modification of my review of my OTHER Citizen of the same specifications with a different color.

  • My Christmas gift to me

The new Citizen Eco-Drive is everything I hoped it would be! I've had it about a month and have already received several compliments. The watch goes great with suits or jeans. I had to watch the YouTube video a couple of times to learn about all the features. It took a little while to set the time and date but now I won't ever have to worry about it anymore. It even adjusts for leap year. The watch feels heavy in my hand but once it's on my wrist I don't notice it. The battery will last a lifetime. The quality and style of this watch are impressive and I expect to use it, worry free, for many years to come!

  • Great watch

I buy only citizen watches. All that’s needed is to keep it under a light source and it always stays charged. Stylish, accurate, and reasonably priced for what you get. They can be a little complicated to set and they’re all different but a great watch.

  • Elegant, comfortable, and perfectly accurate

If you want a good look for an elegant occasion, this is the watch that you need. The gold parts are really shiny and will grab attention. I am totally happy with the watch, for this price it is a must buy if you are not a hardcore watch collector, but you want a real manly gentleman watch at affordably price.

  • Beautiful Watch

Two weeks ownership... This is one of the most stylist, conservative watches available in any market. You will love this watch and all its features. When you open the display container you will know why you had to have this watch. It is not too heavy and not too large that it will appear flashy. Once you master the mildly difficulty of how to set and adjust the watch, you will want to purchase another.
