in-depth, thought provoking and yet easy to read
Only a little ways into the book and I find it very compelling. The way the author breaks down various philosophies throughout history and applies his own perspective really gives the reader an interesting window into the broader picture of how ideas and philosophy has shaped cultures and societies. I highly recommend this book for folks who are both completely new to philosophy and for those who are familiar with the subject but looking for a new take on it more generally with an emphasis on how it effects society.

Best introduction to wester philosophy and with commentary by one of the best philosophers ever.
My personal favorite philosopher is Russel so....an introduction to western philosophy by him is a no brainer. He's bold in his commentary so beware.I personally love his commentary.
