ReviewsPraise for EERIE ELEMENTARY #1:"The plot and twisted storyline will serve the beginning chapter book reader well. Word choice, action, and crisp sketches support the story, allowing early readers to develop ideas and easily follow the plot." -LIBRARY MEDIA CONNECTION"Give this early chapter book to readers who want something scary but aren't ready for the 'Goosebumps' or 'Scream Street' series." -SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL"Dynamic, cartoonish illustrations amp up the action, and fun onomatopoeia provides atmosphere....Readers who relish the action of Dav Pilkey's Ricky Ricotta series and the just-beyond-safe scares of R.L. Stine's Rotten School titles may want to enroll at Eerie Elementary." -BOOKLIST"Chabert hits just the right horror note for transitional readers, with thrills that include a dash of absurd humor and fall tactfully short of being truly frightening....Simple sentence structure, some repetitive (but not tedious) vocabulary and a direct storytelling style make this a worthy and creepy addition to the Branches series, and the scary story aspect will likely pull in a few reluctant readers. Ricks' illustrations add an appropriately gloomy but playful touch." -BULLETIN OF THE CENTER FOR CHILDREN'S BOOKS, Praise for BRANCHES books: "These books should be considered for larger libraries wanting to enhance their easy-reader collections." -SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL "Plenty of drawings assist readers with plot development." -SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL "A nice stepping stone to more advanced chapter books." -BOOKLIST "We are absolutely desperate for these books. Thank you for recognizing and addressing [this] monumental gap in the market." -Andrew Medlar, Youth Materials Specialist, Chicago Public Library, Praise for EERIE ELEMENTARY #1: "The plot and twisted storyline will serve the beginning chapter book reader well. • My kid loves these books!

My 8 year old second grader absolutely loves these books. His teacher piqued his interest in them when she started reading them to his class. They are kid-friendly "creepy" and the kid characters are smart, brave, resourceful...and relatable. They worry about homework and friendships. AND they are the heroes! I love that my kiddo actually begged me to get these books, especially when it's so hard to keep his interest in things other than "screen time" during the boredom of staying home in a pandemic. He loves when I read to him but these books are at his reading level so he can read them on his own too.
