This book is required by USF's college of medicine because our instructor is Dr. Lois Nixon, one of the editors. Many medical students complain of having a humanities course, but I think it is important to keep humanism in the minds of student doctors. The book has some wonderful articles and poems that help communicate different attitudes and feelings that physicians and patients have. Many of the authors are physicians themselves, and allow us to look into the minds of the caretaker; how doctors are people too, and we need to remember them as such.
An excellent book! A must have for students in medical school. Stories about ethics and feel good stories too.
