About this product
Product Information
Humanity continues its heroic struggle against the hideous Chimera in this follow-up to the PlayStation 3's top-selling launch title. Taking place two years after the events from the first game, Resistance 2 has you controlling Nathan Hale as the war campaign moves from England to the United States. The setting is an alternate 1953 America, a landscape ravaged by war and alien occupation. Fight alongside a group of super-soldiers called the Sentinels and attempt to stave off the effects of the Chimeran virus surging through your bloodstream. The enemy is now equipped with deadly new weapons in addition to modified armaments from the first game.
Game types include a solo campaign, cooperative play, and online warfare for up to 60 players simultaneously. The co-op option features a distinct storyline parallel to the main campaign and includes support for up to eight players. It also offers a choice of three character classes: medic, soldier, and special ops. In addition to possessing special attributes, each class can earn experience in combat. New equipment and armor can be unlocked by achieving certain level milestones. The online component features improvements over the first game, with new social networking tools and an open invite system bolstering such multiplayer mainstays as skill-oriented matchmaking, stat tracking, and dedicated servers.

Resistance 2 is in general a great game. It doesn't have the graphics (in general) of a CoD 4 or Killzone 2, but I would say the fun factor is as high or better. The guns don't seem particularly heavy, but they are fun to shoot in any case. The boss battles feel (almost) epic in scale. The bosses themselves are these huge crazy things, but the battles have a very easy pattern to master so you don't feel any particular sense of accomplishment after bringing down the beasts. The game has sections where there are just way too much crappy enemies on the screen that don't require much strategy other than to blindly open fire. Although this game doesn't explicitly have a cover system, ducking actually simulates it fairly well and, in my opinion, is much better than actually having a cover system. As far as I can tell, the plot is nonexistent, but this type of game doesn't really suffer much from it. The main reason I rate this game so highly is the multiplayer. Although I have not played it after purchasing the game, I participated in the pre-release beta and found both the cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes immensely enjoyable because of the scale of the battles. This game isn't perfect, far from it in fact, but when the dust settles, it's flat out fun to play.Read full review
I bought this game some time ago because I had just finished the first game Resistance, which by the way is one of the best games I´ve played so far. I hoped resistance two was better or at least the same quality. At first I hated it because it took me some time to learn how to play cooperative because I played the first one with my brother. This format is a bit different, but once you learn to use it it is simply awsome. The best part I consider is that you have to work yourself up into a complete soldier by gaining experience and weapons through your kills and objective completion. This is a very good idea and keeps the player wanting more. The down side of this is that you have to repeat the fisrt level (which is quite large by the way) like 6 times before you have the option of advancing to the second level. This after some time gets boring because you learn by the fifth game where and when enemies will attack and it looses the element of surprise....which however comes back as soon as you make enough merits to go to the second level.
In the end I dont regret it at all. I think it has great graphics and is tough so it makes you work hard to obtain your goals.
If you have the chance buy it. It is addictive and it grows on you every time you play it!Read full review
The gameplay is, of course, a lot of fun but they removed a couple aspects that I really liked in the first game and that made the gameplay different.
First they removed the ability to have all guns at one time. In Resistance 2 you are only allowed two guns at a time and you can switch them out as you find them. I realize this is more "realistic" but I enjoyed the game far more when I wasnt so limited in my choice of weapons at any one time. I loved being able to decide how exactly I wanted to kill the enemy.
The second aspect that was removed is the health bar aspect. In the first game the player had a health bar divided into 4 sections. If you were injured, you would only regenerate up to the next section. Resistance two has decided to move over to the Call of Duty health system in that the more you are injured the louder you hear a heart beat and the screen blurs some. If you hide for a minute you calm down and are back to full health. This removes the need for health packs and planning around a limited level of health.
These two changes take some of the character out of the game, in my opinion. I enjoyed the different strategies involved with the health system in the first game as well as the versatility of being able to choose from all the weapons at any time. Another change is the way the story is told. No longer do you get black and white screens with a british woman voiceover, in Resistance 2 you get bits and pieces from the small amount of Intel you collect around the levels and the rest is just radio conversations. In addition the technology seems like it has become very advanced for the early 1950s. Maybe they took it all from the Chimera but the equipment and clothes the humans wear seem very 21st century to me.
Despite these changes, the game is still a lot of fun and the graphics are beautiful. I definitely recommend the game but dont expect as much uniquiness compared to other games in the same genre.Read full review
I love the gameplay on Resistance. After playing the first Resistance, I became a big fan of the game and the premise. First person shooter sci-fi action thriller games are my absolute favorite games to play and this one definitely has it all. I had trouble going to bed after playing this game because I wanted to see what happened next.
There was only one real drawback as I can recall. Consistent as with the first Resistance, the game was pretty short taking less than a full day's worth of hours to pass it on Normal. It definitely takes some tact to get through it though, if you try to run by and randomly pot shot your enemies on this game, you will get torn apart. Wicked and ferocious enemies, great graphics and interesting and fun objectives to complete. I haven't yet tried the multi-player but otherwise, this game is a lot of fun!
Happy Hunting

Well, Resistance is one of the best games for ps3. I started playing resistance fall of men but them i saw me playing resistance 2 and resistance 3.
About the game, it gots better features than fall of men, there is better graphic engine so u will apreciate gretat graphics, there is more weapons, new foes, new characters.
About the game inside, is good, i would prefer that the trophies was more easily to win, and a little more explanations about the transformation of Nathan Hale, but i am still playing the resistance 3 so i will understand trought the game, and finally in the lower point in the game is that u can only have 2 weapons no 4 or 5 like resistance fall of men and resistance 3, is a the wicked point.
In simply words get the game if u hasnt done, is a great saga.
I will wait for other resitance releases.Read full review
