They will work if you are not concerned with endurance or safety. The slot is milled into the thicker side, probably for easier installation. I would think it would have been better if it was milled in the thinner side. When clamped between the leaf spring and the axle perch, and the bolts torgued to 98 ft/lbs, they will crack. I bought some others milled from steel.
