One of the best cycling lights available.
The Cygolite Expilion 850 light offers a superb 850 lumens of bright light and a really great beam throw for a clear view at night. The throw of the light seems perfect for me, as it is not to narrow or too wide. It offers a great distance, while lighting up the trail right in front of you. The light offers a variety of light output settings, along with night time and daylight flash modes. The rechargeable lithium battery lasts a long time and I have never run out of battery while riding. The battery is also replaceable on the Expilion models, so you can carry a spare on really long rides or replace it when it's charging life is done. I have used this light almost every day for over two years now with no problems. The handlebar mount is a no tools design, so you can quickly move the light to another bike. Extra mounts are also available if you want to use the light on multiple bikes without moving the mount. I regularly get comments on the brightness of the light, with many cyclists stopping me to ask the brand and details about the light. CygoLite Expilion 850
I purchased a pair of these for my wife and myself. The light is incredibly bright at it's highest output and can be set to lower output settings for various outdoor lighting conditions or to conserve battery energy. The on/off button on the top is translucent, allowing a charge/use LED to be seen. On our runs of a few miles, we've yet to kill the battery with the light output set to the more conservative modes because the brightest setting wasn't needed. There is ample light out the front as well as spill to the sides. The light comes with a USB wall charger and detachable USB cable, so the light can literally be charged from anywhere that there's a USB output jack that the cable will fit into. The quick detach mount is a quick detach x 2. You can easily adjust the mount for mounting on various sized surfaces where you can then choose to take it with you by throwing a quick detach lever or just leave it on the bike. The light fits on the mount like that of a flash on a camera hot shoe but a bit more securely. You can leave the mount-itself on the bike if you choose when in more secured areas and simply remove the light from it and throw it in your pocket or on the charger. Great light for size and price
I bought this for Mountain Biking. I live in the desert and to beat the heat in the summer, I have to leave or start in the dark. I do about 45 minutes before it's light enough to see with out a light. On the second setting I can see well enough to go the same speed as I do during day light hours. No need to step it up to the high or third setting but nice to know it's there. The rough terrain doesn't seem to bother it at all. I've also used it on my road bike a time or two and was able to see all the things you try to avoid with a road bike. I felt super safe, knowing any cars were sure to see me. Recharging is fairly fast and easy. If anything was to happen to this light, I'd replace it with another in a heart beat. I've been riding for over 25 years and have owned many lights. Very bright
I bought this bike light because my other one was ridiculously dim, probably from ages of use, and even then it probably wasn't very good. Since I now know the rules of the road and I'm sticking to roads, I needed a powerful light to accompany my 80 lumen cygolite rear light. This was a great buy. Build quality feels good. As for how well it will hold up in rain, I'm a little skeptical of trying it out there since I don't want to lose this thing. Hmm, maybe I'll make something to go around the light when in a downpour. Ah I'll figure something out, but anyways. This light is great. I use Medium mode (gives roughly 3h) and sometimes High. Very noticeable for others, and myself. Bicycle light for commuting
The Cygolite Expilion 850 is a nice light to have for bicycle. The headlight is visible and covers well the visible short range while driving in dark. The distance the beam covers front of you less than 10m. I would rate it good low beam but when going fast, e.g. downhill, I would like to have a visibility of high beam with more distance. Cygolite 850
I use this light for night mountain bike riding. I wear it on my helmet and recently purchased a second one for handlebar mounting. Battery life is long and 850 lumens is bright enough to light the trail on the darkest nights. When my fellow riders are losing there lights, mine continue to shine, i am very happy with this product and it doubles as a flashlight too. Great light
This light is bright enough at night so you can't outdrive it at 30 mph on the pulse mode. During the day on its daylight flash mode, I have had no problems with cars seeing me at intersections, unlike a previous light of 350 lumens.
