The tablet is nice, it looks amazing and has no defects what so ever. The only thing is that it's a bit slow, and has an issue with Windows 8 not responding to the start menu at times. But its great for studying and watching videos. I mainly use it for that and coding online which works great. It's a mobile study tool, what more could you ask for. I think im going to install Windows 10 and test it, if it doesn't work well then I'll install Linux, that should work even better since it takes less resources to operate. But overall great purchase.

There are several issues with this tablet which I think buyers should beware of. But the top two issues for me were wifi speed tests, absolutely horrible, in the single digits for download speed - and that was compared to my cell phone and an Asus Transformer t100 (also horrible) which beat the Dell hands down. Secondly is the heat, the unit gets very warm - I certainly would not let a child use it. Keyboards for the 7140 are expensive, and very hard to find. Support, and accessories for this tablet is also horrible - discontinued is the kindest word I can use here. On boot, twice I received error messages on a blue screen informing me the 'device needs to be repaired'. And lastly, the price, reconditioned units at $325.00+ USD? You're having a laugh. On the plus side, sound is great, video is nice.....Read full review

Some of the reviews on here are not for the 7140/m-5y71/8gb/256gbssd. This one is. Now I've only had it for a couple of days but so far I love it. The refurbished unit looked like new and everything works great. Right out of the box I upgraded to Windows 10 pro 64bit- which took less than an hour. Not sure if it comes with a free upgrade after July 29th though. I tested the sequential read speed, 443.4 mbs, and the sequential write 345.1 mbs, of the hard drive. I'm not super techy but it seems fast, it starts up super fast. I've had other tablets , my last one acer 10, it was a cheap one with atom processor and emmc memory this one is way faster.

Yes, you might find a better Tablet. The i5 version is higher powered, and you can get larger drives and ram - but for the price these i3 models can be had at, and what you can do with them - it really is an excellent value. I use mine on jobsites with keyboard dock and in a rugged case, and it truly is an effective laptop replacement that has my company issued i5 17" ProBook stashed away. I considered all operating systems, and all products over a few weeks of careful research before settling on this. Since it was my own choice and dollars involved, and because it was due to wanting something lighter and more portable than the ProBook - I took extra time to research and find the best value.

This is a very good value product when compared to the surface 3, though the screen could be larger. With the keyboard which I highly recommend it is a bit heavy for its size. However the i5 processor very well mates to the rest of the device so it is speedy. Also the screen could be slightly brighter. I saved 200.00 vs the surface. Not sure yet if the 8 gb ram makes much difference vs. 4gb. Maybe for graphics.
This thing has been a hit and miss from the moment I first powered it on. It had absolutely no charge when I tired to power it on the first time. I plugged it in and left it for a few hours. When I turned it on, it went straight to dell diagnostic screen because something went wrong. After the diagnostic was over, everything checked out. I started using it and everything seemed ok. I use a Surface Pro 2 at work and it seemed like the performance was about on parts with my Surface Pro 2. After a few days I started having a battery issue. I always shutdown the tablet because Windows 8 loads VERY fast so no need for it to sleep. It had a full charge when I shut it down and the next day when I tried turning it back on, it wouldn't. I plugged in the cable and the dell diagnostic screen came on again. After the diag was over and the OS loaded, it showed 0% battery. It drained the battery while off. I did a couple of manual firmware and Driver updates and the battery issue has only happened once. I really like this tablet but I'm afraid one day when I really need it in class that it won't turn on. Overall very good performance, but very disappointed with all the issues I have had.Read full review
This thing is very powerful and yet very compact. Versatile too as I believe it can do LTE and has many connection ports for various peripherals. The price can’t be beat. Thank you.

I had a Dell Latitude 10.1 before. The dog knocked it to the tile floor. So when I wanted to replace it, I opted for the Venue 11. This is an awesome computer. I don't need anything else to run all of the programs I require. It runs Windows 10 perfectly, and I can stream my Directv flawlessly as well.
