If you want to use peripheral devices like a keyboard or mouse make sure you get 5-pin micro usb 2.0 adapter. There are other micro usb's that do not fit. I like the small 8" screen. I use the stylus a lot. Touch screen is pretty sensitive. It froze the first time I used it. Dell said to hold the on/off button for 15 seconds that release and hold for 3 seconds and it started right up and hasn't had that trouble again. Cut & paste is difficult (for me) probably will be easier with a mouse (when I get the correct adapter). Sound is sometimes not very loud but then I use earphones. Overall I like it mostly because of the size and it has Windows.

Im sure it was a great tablet for its time but time has marched on. It wont install a simple app. My mistake for being a novice cheapskate.

--- Important, remember to install all the latest Windows and Dell updates (there may be quite a few, I had over 50) for the tablet to work well/connect to wireless --- The Great: 1. Even though Windows 8.1 is awkward, it's awesome having a full operating system. You can load your full version favorite programs, and have control over the operating system. 2. The HD display is great. 3. It's well built. The Good: 1. The battery life is very good, and charges quickly. 2. This is a good substitute for a clumsy, or older laptop. 3. It comes with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013, and they are full versions. But you'll need a stylus, and preferably a Bluetooth keyboard, because working Word/Excel with touch is very frustrating on an 8-inch screen. The Just Ok: Like with many tablets, the storage space is a bit small, so you'll need to buy an extra storage card. After installing Microsoft Office, Bitdefender, Firefox, Chrome and some other fairly large programs, it's almost out of space. I may uninstall the Office products that I don't use (OneNote, PowerPoint) to make more room... The Bad: Internet Explorer stinks on touch, so you'll want to download Chrome or Firefox (both work well). 2. There is no USB port, just one mini-USB used for transferring data and charging. So to transfer data, you'll need to buy an standard size USB adapter. The Very Bad: You need to push a bit hard/click the mini USB port into the tablet (which is ok). But it is possible to push the plug in upside down. If you do, you'll bend the connector pin inside the Dell and break your tablet. So be very careful!! Conclusion: Even with the mini USB issue, this tablet is great for the price. I like it so much that I wish I would have gotten a bigger screen.Read full review
Have had the device for about 6 weeks now. I'm more satisfied as I become more familiar with the Windows 8 OS. I did have some initial technical issues which were difficult to determine. I wasn't sure if the problems were of my own making or not. Once I reached out to Dell support, the issues were identified and corrected to my satisfaction. This was purchased as refurbished and the issue ended up being a corrupt system file. The device itself works great and I'm very satisfied with the picture quality and the speed. The OS takes up half of the 32 gig, which seems like a lot, but I haven't had any capacity issues. Biggest issues are getting used to OS and the relative lack of apps. Particularly in my case would be apps for aviation charts.
Bought this unit as a replacement for my laptop as well as my kindle. It has filled those jobs without a hitch. This is not a "Tablet" but a full blown computer. I did get a wireless keyboard but never use it. Though this Dell fills my needs, it would not work well if you do a lot of word processing, otherwise it's an amazing little computer. Do get as much memory as you can because you'll need it.

The device is fast and easy to use. The product has a quality design and great build quality. The downsides include having no video output and no separate port for data. The micro USB is used for charging and if you want to plug in a USB device such as a keyboard and mouse, you have to use an OTG cable. You can't charge the device while having a USB periferal plugged in at the same time. Also, the device gets up quite warm on the back when doing anything more than basic web browsing. If you play any videos or games, it gets too hit, to the point, where it is unbearable to hold without just holding it by the edges. Also, the base model, which has only 32GB has only 10GB of that available and after installing a few basic apps, like Facebook, Hulu Plus, and Netflix and installing updates and updating drivers,l you end up with about 8GB available and there isn't any way to store apps from the Windows 8 store on a MicroSD card or regular applications on a MicroSD card either. You can store media, such as music, photos, and videos on the MicroSD card, but that's it. Also, I think that a 10" screen is needed to take advantage of Windows 8. Especially, because you still end up on the desktop interface a lot and even whe using the Metro Apps, in order to multitask, have multiple apps open next to each other, you need the extra screen real estate. The device is great for what it is, but horrible for what it needs and what it isn't. I would suggest going with Dell's 10" or a Surface Pro or one of the other 10" or larger alternatives. For not much more, the Dell Venue 11 Pro or Dell Latitude 10 seem like they could be better options. The Dell Latitude 10 offers full Windows 8.1 and 64GB storage plus a larger screen and some other pluses and doesn't cost much more. Do your research and find a larger alternative and a Windows 8 tablet could be a laptop alternative.Read full review
I like this tablet overall. The touch screen can be a little too "touchy", especially when typing, but for the most part works good. A word of advice; make sure your purchase comes with the original Dell charger, or plan to buy one. A common 5 watt (5 volt, 1 amp) charger won't work. Also a stylus can be very helpful.

It is a wonderful Tablet once you set it up properly. It does have a few problems but what do you expect for $138.00 which included the case and keyboard First, there are many differences in Windows 8 from that of a PC.It is a new learning curve but the start menu is the same Within the setup menu there are many hidden programs but once you learn where they are it is easy. The most annoying problem is the monitor keyboard that keeps popping up every time you press a key. Since I bought the mechanical keyboard (included in price)I do not use the monitor keyboard.I could not find a way around this. The screen is beautiful and turns quickly when you turn the tablet. the mini ubs to usb male is very short and the electric socket must be within 1 foot of tablet to work while charging. It is fairly heavy. The battery does not last 8 hours. With all the shortfalls, I would buy it again if I lost mine.Read full review
Replace a busted model (smashed) and use it for all sorts of Nook book reading, internet access, etc. Since it was a used model, price was right. I expect to get a few years of good service from it. Downside to these types of tablets is that if you have fat fingers, using the tabs and other small items on the page, it is cumbersome. All things considered, it's a great product from Dell.

I had an iPad for a little while but it did the same this as my phone just bigger. I needed something a little more and I hate Andriod, not because I'm an Apple lover but because Android just sucks. So I started looking at Windows tablets not the ones the only run Windows RT and be limited to windows store apps (thats worse than Android) but the the full Windows 8. I bought Dell's 8in Venue tab because it had the best specs and reviews for its price point. $130 used 32gb. Having never used windows 8 it takes a little getting use to but I become more satisfied as I learn the OS. The Venue is very well made, very sturdy, profesional. Except the charge port, its in a dumb spot and seems a little flimsy. The resolution looks great no complaints there. Its internal memory is fairly fast almost as fast as a spinning hd. The proessor is decent and great at multi tasking. The biggest downfall for this tab is the digitizer; It detects false/different/random touch feedback and basically hampers the ability to use the pad all the way around which is a huge downfall. Other things that are less than stellar include the cameras which produce a lot of noise and static and the SD card slot only supporting 32 gbs of memory when i need 128. The speakers are not so loud for watching movies. It seems cheaper hard ware would be the trade off for the low price. I will give this tablet a 3.2of5 slightly above average.Read full review
