This is a First Gear 1/34 scale diecast model of the mid-1950's R-200 International truck with a moving van body. International Harvester produced the R series beginning in 1953 through the early 1960's. First Gear offered models of the medium-duty International R series as R-190 and R-200. These being R and not RD indicate they would have gasoline engines. The R-190 models come with disc wheels and smaller tires than the heavier weight class R-200 which come with cast spoke wheels and larger tires. The R-200 model offers the fine detail associated with First Gear 1/34 truck models. The moving van body does not have any opening doors but does include a swinging rear loading ramp with two very finely detailed suspension chains. The rear ramp may be displayed folded up, suspended level, or on the ground as for loading. The model includes small rearview mirrors to attach to the truck but the truck would probably be more authentic with West Coast-style mirrors common to larger trucks. This version of the First Gear 1/34 scale diecast 1957 International R-200 bears valid historical markings for Global Van Lines. Global Van Lines was founded in 1933 as Howard Van Lines in Dallas, Texas. It took its present name in 1957 when it was acquired by Trans-Ocean Van Service of Long Beach, California. Global was acquired in 1981 by WKG Corporation of Houston, Texas, and sold to Contrans Corporation in 1985. In 1990, Global agents acquired the company making it similar in form to a cooperative. It was acquired by Interstate Van Lines in 1998 and sold to Allied Worldwide in 2000, which became SIRVA. Global Van Lines previously held its world headquarters at the northeastern edge of Disneyland in Anaheim, California, where it was also a corporate sponsor. The mid-century modern building was razed in the 1990's and in 2000 SIRVA moved Global Van Lines headquarters to Fort Wayne, Indiana.Read full review
