Good balance between processing power and portability
My only complaint about this computer is that the track pad on the type cover isn't very sensitive. Scrolling is jumpy, and it's hard to click and drag things without the item you're dragging getting dropped before you let go of the track pad. It's better to use the pen or an external mouse for dragging, and it's better to use a mouse for the pen tool in Illustrator. But I love everything else. The build quality is solid; it doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. Windows 10 runs great on this machine, and so do my Adobe CC apps. Video editing with Premier works great on this machine, except it complains about the screen resolution, so I use an external monitor for that. But that's pretty much the one thing I use an external monitor for--that and testing desktop-sized websites. The built-in screen is really nice for everything else. I like typing on the type cover; the back lighting is really good and the keys are nice and springy. The pen is fun to use, especially with OneNote and Illustrator. The Surface Pro 2 is also easier to carry around than a laptop, and the extra USB port on the charging block is a nice touch; I don't have to carry a separate phone charger. This machine is my daily driver now; it does everything I want it to do, and it replaced both my iPad and laptop, which is nice because I don't like switching between separate devices. I love having something that runs both desktop apps and tablet apps harmoniously. Fantastic device overall! Perfect!!
This arrived a few days before the expected date, which was awesome! The surface pro 2 was in excellent condition and already set up to just switch on and start loading software. I love the backlit keyboard too, which looked brand new. I live in the uk so i needed to buy a travel adapter to plug in the cables to charge it up and It was cheap only £2.99 so i was almost set up. I then purchased a wacom bamboo stylus feel so that i can work on my art on the go, which is why i purchased the surface pro 2. Only thing left is a matte screen protector, so that i can create the feeling of working on a cintiq. A SP2 in 2017
As an artist who primarily works on Apple products, I was looking for a device to function as a great drawing tablet, but could also function as a full fledged computer. The iPad Pro was tempting when it came out, and while the pen input is great, not only is it costly but iOS has many limitations in terms of being a computer. After a ton of research, and looking over all the hybrid offerings out today, I actually started to look back a bit, and the Surface Pro 2 started to shine just a little brighter. For one, as a computer its power is almost on par with my 2013 Macbook Pro, but really the selling point for me became the fact that this was the last SP model to include Wacom's digitizer. It's a platform I trust as my primary use for drawing tablets, but also something integrated into my old Toshiba Portege tablet PC, so understanding how that works under a screen had already convinced me of its usefulness. All in all, while the SP2 might not fully match up to its beefier newer siblings, it also costs a fraction of the price, and it still surprisingly robust as a computer. The main pen jitter issue that has dogged the newer SP's and their competitor cousins just isn't an issue here. So if you're looking for a great drawing tablet that can run any Windows software, and can double as a competent laptop, then consider jumping back a couple generations. Great little tablet!
This is a great tablet and a relatively cheap way to create professional art. It comes with a pen that has wacom technology and functions, pretty much, like a touchscreen laptop. If you're buying from a random seller, you should definitely ask them if the original pen comes with it as copies aren't as good and some people sell them without the pen. I put the program, Krita, on it and it's a wonderful little program, only I can't get pen pressure sensitivity to work in that one program. Performs well, and a great price!
This product performs really well for around for the price point I got it at. The processor is a dual core i5 at 1.9ghz, and with 8gb RAM. It wont play very high end games, but it performs well at playing games like Heroes of the Storm, etc. Even though this is a Surface Pro 2 and not a 3 or 4, its important to know that this will outperform some of the newer models with lower specs. a bargain if you're willing to sacrifice a few features
So this laptop/tablet hybrid is a steal if you can find it for $300 or less. It's got all the same guts as the surface pro 3 but with a smaller screen and different keyboard. Skeptical of it's ability
I was super skeptical about the surface and where I was buying it from. First off it was a used surface pro 2 I was buying and I was afraid it was not up to the task for the things I wanted to do with it. My major problem was I was looking for a laptop but all the laptops are so heavy and to be honest it really was not portable for me. So someone told me to get a tablet that is almost like a laptop. So, then I started researching on tablets and Surfaces came highly recommended. I wanted to do the latest surface but I wanted to be cheap and so I bought a Surface 2 to try out. I have to say it has been the best thing I bought! It is super portable, light, and I can play light games on it. I have no regrets at all buying this product. Awesome little computer!
This thing is pretty awesome! I picked up the refurb keyboard to go with it, and am using it for a daily computer. It does everything i want it to, and even a little more. You can even play some games on it. Love my new PC/tablet
